Integration of the Blind in Schools (Obstacles and Ambitions)

For the purpose of enhancing the role of the blind in society and achieving the educational and social goals, the Integration Administration of the Office of AOBWC in Ibb Governorate organized a workshop entitled “Integration of the Blind into Schools (Obstacles and Ambitions)” on Monday 28 January 2019 at 9 am in Ibb Garden Hotel. The governorate Deputy Director of the Education Office, Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Habri, and Examinations Director at the Education Office, Mr. Abdul Majeed Al-Dumini, attended the workshop. It was also attended by a number of school directors and deputy principals.

The workshop included two working papers. The first paper was entitled “Psychological and Social Characteristics of the Blind Student” delivered by Dr. Yousef Al-Shuja’a, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education, in which he talked about the most important psychological and social characteristics of the blind student and presented several psychological, educational and social points. The second paper was about integration of the blind students into the regular schools delivered by Mr. Walid Abdu Ismail Al-Badhr, Chairman of Al-Ain Association for the Blind Care and Rehabilitation, in which he spoke about integration and its importance.

The workshop also included working groups, recommendations and suggestions that serve this segment and facilitate and avoid any deficiency in the process of integrating the blind male and female students.
